The new Belgian eatery Le Conteur has arrived in Brussels. Amsterdam-based studio Saar Zafrir Design crafted the lively bistro—the latest concept from Israeli chef Alon Jeffet—within the lobby of the forthcoming Le Commérage Hotel, which the firm also designed.
Le Conteur evokes an Eastern Mediterranean sensibility with a blend of eclectic, contemporary touches. The laidback atmosphere is accented with a variety of color, and a mahogany bar and custom orange velvet–upholstered stools creates a warm environment upon arrival. A modernist portrait is hung above a green-tiled mantle, which anchors the interior. The design scheme also features herringbone floors, bronze statuettes, and marble tables.
