The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London will unveil the first phase of its comprehensive facelift this August. Redesigned Knightsbridge-facing guestrooms and suites will arrive along with a new, dramatic lobby entrance and reception area.
London- and Hong Kong-based interior designer Joyce Wang leads the renovation, influenced by the glamor of the 20th century’s Golden Age of travel. The Edwardian heritage of the property will be celebrated through accents in the light and contemporary accommodations, which will overlook Knightsbridge of the inner courtyard. Each guestroom will feature a unique layout, alcoves, warm gray wall panels, and hand-gilded mirror artwork. Art Deco-inspired features and wildlife adornments will be present throughout the design paying homage to the natural beauty of the nearby Hyde Park. Leather-tufted headboards, large leather-topped writing desks, and rugs will be installed to complement the natural details.
Upgraded suites will also feature individual layouts and elegant hallways entrances, as well as walk-in closets and living areas appointed with velvet sofas, wing-back reading chairs, and leather-topped desks. A bespoke acorn chandelier comprised of striking gold and cracked glass will serve as the centerpiece of each suite, accented by bespoke wallpaper, horsehair light sconces, and gloss-painted patterns.
