InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to expand within the midscale sector with its new Avid Hotels brand. Previously introduced in June during the IHG Americas Conference, the concept is now franchise-ready and licensing is underway for its first U.S. outposts. The first Avid locations are expected to begin construction in early 2018 and launch in early 2019.
The modern concept will embrace an airy, open design with retail-like entrances, welcome canopies, and architectural stairways. Units will average 95 to 100 keys across three stories and roughly 1.5 acres as well. Open guestrooms will feature sound-reducing elements, bright bathrooms, and dedicated workspaces with seamless storage.
