Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has completed the Anandi Hotel & Spa Shanghai, the latest wellness and lodging concept in the city’s business district. Natural elements and earthy materials and colors emphasize healing to create a fully holistic environment.
Warm, muted tones are offset by notes of vibrant color alongside natural materials like live edge wood and healing stones. Bamboo and water features also appear throughout the hotel to link its indoor and outdoor environments and echo the restorative principles that inform the design.
Artwork sourced by HBA art consultancy Canvas further infuse balance throughout the interior. The hotel atrium is flooded with natural light, as is the indoor lobby garden, which serves as a tranquil retreat accented with water features. Intimate lobby lounge seating is bridged by high-arched walkways that allow for visual space to inspire reflection. An array of natural elements engage with one another in the onsite spa, where a soothing palette of earthen tones and materials set the stage for restoration.
“We believe that through the context of healing, we were driven to create spaces that allow guests to feel comfortable and relaxed in a tranquil and inviting environment,” says HBA partner Connie Puar. “We worked hand-in-hand with our client to bring to life their vision and make certain the hotel’s brand philosophy is perfectly captured in the design.”
