Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has revealed its design for the 5-Star Ahn Luh resort along Qiandao Lake in China’s Zhejiang Province. The resort is crafted to harmonize with the surrounding natural environment to reduce it its footprint.
The natural scenery is reflected in the palette, which weaves serenity across the sophisticated interiors. The inviting lobby is anchored with a central outdoor fireplace installed within a reflecting pool. Latticed windows, bespoke dark wood furniture, and richly appointed artwork speak to the Jiangnan architectural influences.
Beside the lobby is the Chinese Medicine Room, an onsite wellness concept that features rooms modeled after ancient medicine rooms with warm gray tones and energetic hues of red. Locally sourced gray stones line the floors, while a Chinese herbal apothecary chest made of dark wood contrasts the overall scheme.
Green gardens fecund with bamboo trees line the paved pathways to guest villas, which draw inspiration from historic Chinese craftsmanship. Each villa is appointed with its own gardens, courtyard, and lake-facing balcony. A palette of warm gray, Ming blue, and turquoise permeates through each space, along with locally sourced dark gray stone and wood. Additional amenities include technological upgrades, walk-in wardrobes, ensuite laundry, and marble bathrooms clad with large soaking tubs and glass-enclosed rainforest showers.
Outfitted with bamboo-inspired interiors, the all-day dining concept features its own contemporary Chinese courtyard. Gray handmade bricks line the walls and columns, while naturally finished dark gray stone spans the floors.
