The Darcy, a Curio Collection Hotel, is slated to make its debut in the heart of Washington, DC this April. Evoking European sophistication, the cosmopolitan hotel will receive designs from Los Angeles-based firm Beleco.
The 226-room hotel will feature European-inspired elements such as rich wood tones and accents of distressed metal and bright colors. Conceived as a living room, the lobby will be appointed with comfortable furniture, shimmering wallpaper, and classic architectural elements including wooden archways carved to resemble a rose. A custom brass sculpture of roses—the city flower—from artist Kirk Maxson will also anchor the space behind the front desk before a backdrop of textured, black exposed bricks. A nearby midcentury modern anteroom will offer a comfortable meeting enclave.
Accommodations, including 37 suites, will include art-focused design details with bright, silhouetted profiles above headboards as a nod to the local legacy of portraiture. Detailed botanical photography and a fashion-inspired palette of forest green and medium gray tones will also enhance guestrooms. An aquamarine gemstone lamp, pearl-accented wall sconces, and decorative floral throw pillows will punctuate the rooms alongside bronze desks clad with smoked glass and custom pentagon-patterned chairs. Bathrooms will will revel in tattoo-inspired artworks as well as Art Deco-style tiling and contemporary mirrors with rounded edges.
The Darcy will also partner with local startup Urban Stems to host a bimonthly Flower Bar in the lobby.
