The Peninsula Chicago has begun renovating its accommodations, which it is slated to unveil next April.
Designed by New York-based Bill Rooney Studio, the 331 guestrooms and suites will feature an urban, yacht-inspired aesthetic. Rooms will feature built-in desks and vanities, intimate dining tables overlooking Chicago’s skyline, and deep blue textiles that bear a wave-like pattern in reference to nearby Lake Michigan.
Chinese artist David Qian will provide every room with an art piece depicting a chrysanthemum—the city’s official flower—while locally based artist Jean-Jacques Porret will contribute abstract bronze sculptures.
