Choice Hotels has outlined an aggressive growth and development plan for its Cambria Hotels and Ascend Hotel Collection brands.
Cambria Hotels currently has 30 hotels across the U.S. with 70 in the pipeline. Four hotels have opened so far this year and 10 more will be introduced before the end of 2017, including locations in Dallas, New Orleans, and Phoenix. Choice has also announced an investment of more than $450 million in corporate capital to further expand the Cambria brand. An additional 18 groundbreakings and executed franchise agreements are anticipated. Two Cambria properties opened in May in Los Angeles – LAX and Chicago Loop – Theatre District. The 129-room Cambria Hotel Newport in Rhode Island will open soon.
Ascend Hotel Collection has new openings slated for each month of 2017. With franchise signings up 30 percent from 2016, this independent brand includes a portfolio of 230 projects open and under development worldwide. Some recent openings include the LOOK Red Hook, Brooklyn; the Volare in San Clemente, California; and the Water in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Global agreements are in the works for projects in Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, France, Norway, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK.
