James “Jay” Schultz, senior vice president for ICD Publication’s Hospitality Group—which includes Hotel Business and InspireDesign—died on August 1st, 2018 following complications from an ongoing illness. He was 54.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Schultz began his tenure with Hotel Business in 1992, joining ICD Publications as a sales manager before a promotion to publisher. He briefly transitioned to Hospitality Design to serve as publisher in 2006 before returning to ICD the following year to helm the Hotel Group.
“Jay was not only my professional mentor, but a personal friend,” says Hotel Business publisher Allen Rolleri. “His leadership and salesmanship—and his ability to forge strong, lifelong relationships within our industry—were unparalleled, and qualities that made him not only a role model to me, but to so many lives he touched in our company and the hotel industry. He has left tremendous shoes to fill, and his loss leaves a tremendous hole in all of our hearts.”
Schultz is survived by his wife Mary Jo and his son Jamie.
