Hospitality Design (HD) magazine, published 10 times a year, is the premier trade magazine serving the field of hospitality design. It connects owners, operators, purchasing agents, designers, and architects involved in the design of hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise ships, nightclubs/lounges, spas, and all other hospitality-oriented projects. HD continues its 30-plus-year mission to publish the accomplishments of various design teams that collaborate to bring the most innovative examples of new construction and renovation to the industry.

Hospitality Design links buyers and sellers through various trade shows, conferences, products, services, and awards:

Hospitality Design Exposition & Conference (HD Expo):
The preeminent trade show for the hospitality design industry takes place May 2-4, 2018, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Manufacturers get the opportunity to reach hospitality design professionals face-to-face, display/introduce products, and build relationships, while attendees see the newest and best products on the market, listen to compelling panel discussions, and network and socialize. See photos from the 2017 HD Expo.
Hospitality Design Summit (HD Summit): An exclusive invitation-only conference where top hospitality design
executives gather in a thought camp environment to gain inspiration and
insight from visionary speakers from outside the industry, hone their
leadership skills, and connect with industry peers.

Hospitality Design Awards for Creative Achievement (HD Awards): The annual program’s categories, developed by a panel of prominent designers, offer both a departure from other awards programs and creative opportunities for entrants. This year’s winners and finalists, selected by prestigious industry judges, were recognized on June 7th, 2017 in New York, and both winners and finalists will be featured in the June issue of HD. View the winners and finalists of the HD Awards project categories and product categories.

Platinum Circle: Every year this lifetime achievement award is given to individuals who make a significant contribution in the field of hospitality design. This year’s honorees include Anda Andrei, Bill Bensley, Joan Cardy, and Walter Isenberg. For its 29th anniversary, the black-tie gala will take place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York on November 14th, providing an ideal networking event for all industry members. IIDA/HD Product Design Competition: Co-sponsored by HD and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), these awards are held in conjunction with the annual HD Expo to recognize quality design. Winners will be featured in the Show Daily, delivered at HD Expo, and in the July issue of HD. View past winners here.

CitySCENE: Next Generation Networking events are near-monthly regional gatherings that bring together up-and-coming and established hospitality professionals—including designers, architects, purchasing agents, brand executives, and owners—for a fun evening of networking in cities across the country, including Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Toronto, and Washington, DC.

Wave of the Future :
For more than a decade, we have annually honored a handful of
designers, architects, and owners as our Wave of the Future, those who
are young enough to be considered visionary, but tested enough to be
accomplished. This year, we have compiled another stellar group: Christopher Alvarado, senior director of design and development services; Barbara Rourke and Jason St. John, co-founders and principals of Bells + Whistles; Dominika and Paweł Buck of Buck Studio; Jou-Yie Chou, Leigh Salem, W. Brian Smith, and Ruben Caldwell of Studio Tack; Melissa Haft, head of design for Joie de Vivre Hotels; Sabine Vessnow, director of development-sourcing for Sydell Group; and Charles & Co. Design co-founder James Waterworth. Look out for coverage of them in our June issue. Attendees and sponsors of the NextGen Forum, taking place June 17-18th at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, will hear them live during a panel discussion.
