London-based Zachary Pulman Design Studio has been tapped to lead the design of the new Swingers miniature golf and entertainment concept in the English capital. It will be the concept’s second location, and is slated to open in Oxford Circus in February 2018.
The forthcoming Swingers West End will span 20,000 square feet within the former BHS flagship, and draw inspiration from golf’s seaside roots along with the glamour of the 1920s English Riviera. A hidden entrance will be accessible through a maritime souvenir shop on John Prince’s Street, leading to the 600-person space. Swingers West End will host two whimsical and ornate 9-hole courses—the Big Wheel Course and the Helter Skelter Course.
“Our focus was on making the journey through the spaces full of discovery and surprise, almost like walking through the world of Alice in Wonderland,” studio founder Zachary Pulman says. “Working with the Institute of Competitive Socializing, who choose fun over cool, has been a great experience and together we are creating exciting, visual, and immersive spaces.”
The all-day Bandstand Bar will be appointed with a traditional bandstand canopy roof, while the Grand Hotel Bar recalls the palm courts of the grand hotels of Eastbourne and Brighton with a large island bar surrounded by lush palms. The lamp post-lined Promenade will recreate the boardwalks of yesteryear, with golf courses on one side and beach huts housing food vendors on the other.
