IA Interior Architects has completed work on the new nine-story headquarters for McDonald’s in Chicago. Relocated from the suburbs to the Windy City’s downtown, the new 480,000-square-foot office reflects the iconic brand’s ongoing evolution.
The sundrenched, industrial setting has been conceived to foster interpersonal interaction and collaboration among all employees. Punctuated with custom furniture and lighting, the interior is outfitted with seamlessly integrated quiet and active zones to accommodate the various needs of groups and individuals.
A five-story atrium is transformed to accommodate a prominent stair feature that provides a connection across each floor. In addition to conventional workspaces, the headquarters includes a culinary lab, sound studios, UX labs, technology labs, and kitchens. All levels are balanced with spaces for rejuvenation to support cognitive and physical wellness.
