Inspired by the Mercado de San Miguel food hall in Madrid, Atlanta’s Bar Mercado has arrived with a vibrant flair crafted by locally based practice Square Feet Studio. The new bar and restaurant layers bright colors and bold patterns atop a backdrop of aged brick, steel, and concrete.
Curated fabrics and wallcoverings in red, pink, ochre, and blue create a lush palette that complements the building’s bustling, market-style atmosphere. Light and color are articulated in the dining room, while large capiz shell-style globe pendants unify the interior with a warm glow against deep blues overhead. Appointed with drapery walls that soften banquettes and rough-hewn wood chairs, the space also includes an intimate bar with warm brass accents installed beneath a pink ceiling. A barrel-vaulted canopy shelters patio seating, and red and orange neon ambles along steel panels at the entrance crerating the restaurant’s signage.
