Specializing in container-based structures, Brooklyn, New York-based SG Blocks has unveiled a Taco Bell outpost in a shipping container near Los Angeles in South Gate, California. Comprising five modules and fully outdoor seating, the 1,080-square-foot restaurant was modeled as a pop-up earlier this year at the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin.
Partnering with Alvarado Construction—part of Alvarado Companies, which is the franchise owner of the Taco Bell location—SG Blocks installed the new venue in one week with a focus on the fast-food brand’s mission to employ green principles. Final utility work, paving, and landscaping are being completed, and the restaurant is expected to open before the end of the year.
Alvarado Companies currently owns 110 Taco Bells in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin, and California.
