Chef Philippe Chow has unveiled his second eponymous eatery in the Meatpacking District of New York. The new venue, Philippe Downtown, further amplifies Chow’s modern take on traditional Chinese cuisine with a complementary ambiance.
Designer Corbin Plays executed the restaurant’s signature modern aesthetic with accents of bold red to infuse the symbolism of good fortune and joy. Illuminated by delicate gold fixtures, a mirrored staircase leads patrons into the main dining room where elegantly upholstered banquettes and freestanding tables are positioned beneath a gold-leafed ceiling. The open and flexible layout also includes a rear bar and DJ booth wrapped in a golden bamboo display. The onsite private dining room accommodates up to 50 guests behind sliding screen doors.
