The Bellagio Shanghai will welcome LAGO by Julian Serrano as its newest dining concept in early 2018. The fashion-forward Italian eatery—Serrano’s first in China—will overlook the Suzhou River from the hotel’s sixth floor and feature a striking design from Toronto-based Studio Munge.
Italian Futurism inspired the design, emphasizing both experimentation and dynamism. The space aims to manipulate perceptions of time and space, beginning at the elevator bank where guests will be greeted by an iridescent blast of color and light. A sculptural host stand at the end of a portal-like corridor clad with dozens of blue crystalline fins will reflect off custom marble floors in hues of white and blue.
Abstract ceiling panels will also overlap delicately as they cascade down the walls of the restaurant. A custom floor-to-ceiling cabinet in the dining room and bar will showcase the onsite wine selection encased behind shimmering crimson chrome and burgundy smoked glass. Located at the end of glass tunnel outfitted with chrome cell screens, the angular cupola chamber will glow beneath a tubular chandelier that will gently illuminate the space in shades of soft pink and velvet red.
