The King Tide Fish & Shell restaurant in downtown Portland, Oregon’s Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel has introduced a new look following a refresh from Washington, DC-based GrizForm Design Architects.
Inspired by the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, the design reinforces the outdoors by highlighting the Willamette River and local bike culture. Richly stained wood details are featured alongside a variety of textures and a palette of deep green, warm brown, and sea gray. The upscale, lodge-inspired atmosphere greets visitors in the lobby with its fireplace-clad bar. Banquette, high-top, and communal seating are installed along with the curvilinear leathered granite bar that flows along the inside wall of the interior. Acoustic felt panels adorn walls that are illuminated by schoolhouse-style pendant lights suspended from the bulkhead. Charcoal gray beams mirror the ceiling pattern, while custom bike wheel mandalas further celebrate Portland.
A spacious foyer organically links the lounge and bar to the dining room, which boasts colorful patchwork rugs, leather and denim seating, nautical floor lamps, and brightly hued seaglass artwork.
