Austin- and San Antonio–based design studio Clayton & Little is designing a new vineyard in the heart of the California Central Coast wine country. Located on 100 acres in the Templeton Gap, Fulldraw Vineyard is slated to be completed in 2021. The first phase of construction will entail a 11,470-square-foot fermentation building, a 2,105-square-foot barrel aging and casegoods storage building, and a covered crush porch. The tasting room will be developed during the second phase.
The design pays close attention to site topography and climate with a steel-framed “barn” that accommodates open-air fermentation spaces that support cross ventilation and expansive natural daylighting. A clean interior scheme will evoke resilience and transparency, while an integrated photovoltaic system on the exterior will promote sustainability.
