The Cambodian nonprofit Everything’s Gonna Be OK (EGBOK), which specializes in empowering underserved young adults through hospitality education, training, and employment placement, has announced the opening of Spoons – An EGBOK Café in Siem Reap. The new venue will serve as a training facility and multifunctional space for Cambodian students, visitors, and community members.
The upscale Cambodian concept also embraces sustainability as it complements EGBOK’s main campus. Wrapped in bamboo, the eatery serves as a hub to promote local arts and culture as well, and profits from the café are channeled directly back in support of EGBOK.
EGBOK’s recruiting process aims to empower the most disadvantaged young Cambodians first through its yearlong Training & Internship Program (TIP) at its hospitality school. Supplementary courses will build leadership skills to prepare students for work with one of the 5-Star Siem Reap properties partnering with EGBOK, including the Park Hyatt Siem Reap and the Le Méridien Angkor.
