Jeffrey Beers International Crafts Gotham Market at the Ashland

The Gotham Organization—the team behind Gotham West Market in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood—has announced the launch of its second culinary market in Brooklyn. Gotham Market at the Ashland has opened in the borough’s bustling Fort Greene neighborhood with designs from local firm Jeffrey Beers International (JBI).

JBI’s design of the 16,000-square-foot market pays homage to the architectural history of Brooklyn, with industrial materials including exposed concrete, brick, and reclaimed wood. A 26-foot-high atrium features black steel pipe chandeliers with 180 handblown glass globes created by artists at the neighboring Urban Glass studios. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surroundings as a backdrop against the market’s illuminated counters and white subway tiles.

Dining options include Apizza Regionale, Bar Granger, Flip Bird, Mason Jar, and MJ Station. Spanish eatery Boqueria will open its first Brooklyn location in the market later this month, and Egg at the Bird will arrive this spring. A pop-up space will rotate chefs and restaurants throughout the year, kicking off 2017 with the opening of Crabby Shack.
