In agreement with Grand Hotel di Como Srl, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened the Sheraton Lake Como Hotel, located in Como, Italy.
“With beautiful new guestrooms, impressive culinary experiences, and an array of meeting spaces within a spectacular surrounding, Sheraton Lake Como is an excellent addition to the brand’s global portfolio,” says Dave Marr, global brand leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “Located in one of Italy’s most sought-after destinations, the property not only strengthens the brand’s presence in a top tourism market in Europe, but also puts Sheraton one step closer to its goal of opening more than 150 new hotels over the next five years.”
“We believe in the power of the Sheraton brand as well as in the global expertise of Starwood,” says Paolo De Santis, owner of the hotel and CEO of Meta SpA. “This strong partnership allows us to meet the expectations of international guests. By offering business and leisure travelers such engaging brand programming and innovative social spaces, we will only further enhance the global appeal of Lake Como and uphold a leadership position within the hospitality market.”
Located less than an hour from Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate international airports, the 116-room hotel is adjacent to the area’s Villa Erba Exhibition and Conference Centre and includes four newly renovated suites. Italian architect Ruggero Venelli renovated the original property, previously known as the Grand Hotel di Como Srl, to incorporate natural materials and a neutral palette. Interiors also feature custom handcrafted furniture from various Italian designers.
“We are proud that Sheraton Lake Como marks the first internationally branded upscale property to open in the area and are eager to welcome guests to the hotel,” says Michael Wale, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. “As Sheraton embarks on another year of strong growth, the opening of Sheraton Lake Como underscores the brand’s commitment to development.”
In addition to the lobby bar and Sheraton club lounge, guests can choose between two dining venues, Gusto and Kincho restaurants.
Amenities include a fitness center, two outdoor swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, a private park, 10 modular meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 1,000 guests. In particular, Spazio Como, a multi-functional space designed by Italian architect Attilio Terragni, can host up to 350 people.
