The Rosewood Baha Mar Resort has debuted as the new Bahamian fixture in the Rosewood portfolio, thanks to a design by the New York office of Wimberly Interiors.
“As the jewel in the Baha Mar resort’s crown, we wanted our design for the hotel to reflect the residential quality found on Harbor Island; fresh, modern, and unmistakably Bahamian,” said Liana Hawes Young, creative director of Wimberly Interiors New York.
Numerous seating enclaves populate the residential-style Living Room. In addition, the space is punctuated with a bespoke, handpainted mural from SilverHill Atelier that depicts sweeping island vistas in the style of local artist John Hussey. The artwork enhances the sophisticated green, blue, and charcoal color palette. Beyond the Living Room, the Library Lounge features high ceilings and two grand bookcases that expand into the lofty interior. Pale blue and green hues complement rich textures along with additional artwork from SilverHill Atelier and John Cox, which anchors the bookshelf wall and draws inspiration from the natural textures and tones of Nassau.
The guestroom design further reflects the residential ambiance found on Harbor Island. A curated mix of furnishings and finishes add to the fresh, modern design, while feeling distinctly Bahamian. The base palette is light and sophisticated, using crisp white, gray washes, and rubbed ebony finishes to set the scene. Inspired by the view, and guided by the sunsets, Caribbean blue, coral, and lavender provide contrast. Accent pieces made of woven rattans, rope, and painted lacquers are blended into the design.
