Dallas-based design practice Wilson Associates has unveiled its design of the Niccolo Hotel Changsha in Hunan, China. Located with the Changsha IFS Tower One, the new outpost is the fourth luxury property of its kind from Wharf Hotels, a Hong Kong-based hotel management company.
Offering 241 guest rooms, including 19 spacious suites, the hotel’s reception area is reminiscent of luxury retail environments wrapped in a polished style. Characterized by a minimalist color palette of creams and warm neutrals, its contemporary design inside offset by sumptuous details like high-gloss lacquered walls and blown glass sculptures. Elevator cabs are also conceived to evoke opulence with dark textures and striking artwork. All accommodations of the hotel occupy floors 86 to 92, featuring an understated color palette, luxurious textiles, and floor-to-ceiling windows capitalizing on the surroundings with spa-like bathrooms lined with Italian marble.
Among the concept’s F&B options, BAR 93 stands out with a convivial flair, while the Niccolo Kitchen mirrors the overall sleek ambiance of the interior with stylish wood slats installed around a central open kitchen. The 8,480-square-foot ballroom conveys clean flexibility on the fifth floor, as the all-glass conservatory offers layers of intimacy on the eight level. Additional event spaces include an outdoor garden and a piazza, while the property’s stunning Spa at Niccolo is located on the sixth floor.
“Crowning an iconic high-rise in a lively district of Hunan, the Niccolo Changsha presented a unique design opportunity for our team,” says James Carry, principal, and managing director at Wilson Associates’ Dallas office. “Drawing inspiration from its uncommon setting, we sought to create an upscale, yet worldly epicenter for luxury and relaxation––all while staying true to the brand’s roots.”
