London-based design practice Bowler James Brindley has unveiled its design of two new penthouse suites at the W Barcelona. The Wow and Extreme Wow suites serve as a celebration of the city’s culture and colorful past.
“We sought our inspiration from the colorful elements that are intrinsic to the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona,” says Bowler James Brindley co-founder Stephen Crawley. “One of Barcelona’s famous adopted sons, Salvador Dali, inspired us to take recognizable images and shapes and render them in an unfamiliar way—this is manifested in a repeating circle motif throughout the apartments broken down but seen in different planes to make a whole.”
Spread across 1,905 square feet on the 25th floor, the two Wow suites are crafted with a mystic atmosphere inspired by a beachside sunset. In addition to floor-to-ceiling windows, the suite is equipped with a 330-square-foot terrace appointed with lounge seating, sunbeds, and a Jacuzzi. Additional amenities include a bar, rotating circular bed, rainfall shower, freestanding bathtub, and oversized sofa. The 3,175-square-foot Extreme Wow suite draws inspiration from the nightlife of Barcelona with a palette of dark blues, bronzes, warm golds, and deep grays. Along with a 635-square-foot terrace, the suite is also outfitted with bespoke lighting and a speaker wall that reflects the progressive nature of the Barcelona music scene.
