Ian Schrager’s EDITION Hotels is set to launch the Times Square EDITION in March. The 452-room hotel will add a dash of refined luxury to the heart of New York, complete with the neighborhood’s first Michelin-starred restaurant and a new cabaret concept.
A long ivory hall with Venetian plastered walls and ceilings and a floating green mirrored stainless sphere inspired by the artwork of Anish Kapoor and Jeff Koons will welcome guests to the lobby, which dons a black and white palette. In addition, a series of outdoor terraces known as Bladerunner Terraces will frame the various public space floors. Influenced by the L’Orangerie at Jardin des Tuileries, the greenery-infused Terrace Restaurant will also boast rich woods, lush velvets, waxed leathers, polished marble, and smooth metal. A rotating photography exhibition will highlight the gritty and energetic spirit of the city from legendary artists like Helen Levitt and Elliott Erwitt. The signature gastronomic concept 701 West will be spearheaded by Michelin-starred chef John Fraser.
Entertainment venue the Paradise Club will host a wide range of theatrical performances. Here, a 17,000-square-foot Jumbotron will adorn one face of the building to broadcast rotating concepts from video artists, animators, and cinematographers.
“The Golden Age of Times Square elicited the feeling that anything was possible. New York was the city of dreams, Times Square at its heart, where everyone came together with a common purpose,” says Ian Schrager. “The Times Square EDITION is the embodiment of this storied past, resurrected for the present, providing hope for the future of this most beloved neighborhood.”
