The Standard has planted its first flag in Asia, on the Huruvalhi island of the Maldives. Located on the reef of Raa Atoll, the Standard, Maldives has been realized by New York-based designer Matthew Goodrich in collaboration with the brand’s in-house design team.
The new resort comprises 115 overwater and beach villas equipped with private lounge decks and plunged pools. Each villa is crafted with pops of color and funky elements such as flotation rings on the walls or glittering disco balls installed upon the soaking bathtubs as a signature statement-making piece of the Standart hotels. Large-scale commissioned artworks of Rostarr, one of the brand’s favorite artists, are featured throughout the property, while its six distinct F&B venues include two Maldivian concepts, a barbeque spot, an all-day cafe, as well as the BeruBar with a glass-bottom nightclub, and the breezy Todis Bar.
The crown jewel of the hotel’s amenities is the Standart Spa, housing a hammam, aroma steam room, and private treatment rooms that emphasize wellness with immersive localized experiences.
