Ireland-based luxury hotel operator the Doyle Collection has announced that Washington, DC hotel the Dupont Circle will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation. The Doyle Collection chairman Bernie Gallagher will spearhead the property’s overhaul in collaboration with Swedish architect Martin Brudnizki and New York-based designer Clodagh.
Anchored by a communal, wooden work table, Clodagh’s lobby design will express a residential-style coziness with elements like a fireplace and furnishings including slatted window fixtures and a bookcase accented with brass. In addition to hotel foyers, Clodagh will revamp the property’s rooftop floor into a 5,000-square-foot penthouse suite. Complete with a large garden terrace that overlooks Dupont Circle, the suite will comprise two master bedrooms and a grand living and dining area. A neutral palette will punctuate the space’s midcentury-style ambiance with glam detailing ranging from ribbed glass mirrors, brass, and live-edge wooden pieces. A fireplace, wet bar, dining table, and lounge will also be featured inside, while the heated, outdoor terrace will be outfitted with lush greenery, sleek furniture, a firepit, and projector. The remaining 13 suites will be spread across the upper level and will boast heated terraces and outdoor furniture.
F&B spaces will be updated by Martin Brudnizki, including the Bar Dupont, which features panoramic views of the neighborhood. The chic, club-like bar will be crafted with a midcentury-style aesthetic that embraces the building’s 1950s architectural details. Rich green, yellow, and blue upholstery will complement geometric patterns, brass detailing, and polished surfaces.
