International co-living concept The Collective has launched its first location in the U.S. Located across a century-old structure in Long Island City, New York, Collective Paper Factory also marks the debut of the brand’s short-stay only model, allowing a maximum of 29 nights.
Designed by the collaboration of the brand’s in-house team and locally-based Palette Architecture, the 125- key concept’s bright, open-space lobby is endowed with numerous areas designated to encourage social gatherings. Slated to open this month, its onsite eatery, ama, will be crafted to reflect the building’s original industrial qualities with details like a dramatic spiral staircase contrasting the warmth and texture of greenery and rich textiles inside. The co-living space’s seasonal outdoor space, the Courtyard, will arrive on-site soon. Collective Paper Factory will also introduce a robust cultural program including an artist residency and educative conferences.
The brand plans to grow its U.S. footprint by 2021, with the addition of 100 new co-living units to the new property, while additional U.S. locations are already in development in Brooklyn, New York, Chicago, and Miami.
