The newest addition to the Highgate portfolio, Studio Allston, has arrived within a transformed midcentury structure along Soldiers Field Road in Boston. Local architecture firm Dyer Brown spearheaded the hotel’s design.
The concept draws inspiration from its namesake Washington Allston, an early pioneer of the Romantic movement in landscape painting. Under the artistic direction of local advisory group Isbenberg Projects, 12 contemporary artists were tapped to craft murals for the hotel’s 117 guestrooms. Wallpaper adorns standard guestrooms with individual designs, while five of the 10 onsite suites are created as their own immersive, artistic experience. The lobby also punctuates the arrival area with a striking art installation.
