The 58-room Hotel Ketchum in Idaho has revealed its $4 million refresh from Dallas-based firm Studio 11 Design. The boutique property boasts an update that pays tribute to the community’s history and embraces the hotel’s sensibility as an urban, rustic retreat.
“The approach was twofold—to ensure we create a warm and inviting space for the cold and snowy ski season and also embrace the beautiful summer weather for different experiences,” says Studio 11 principal Stacy Elliston. “The place has a spectacular culture, and it was of the utmost importance to us to embrace that culture through our design.”
The redesign channels Ketchum’s roots as an early ski destination, injecting both sophistication and cheerfulness with unique details. Guests are welcomed by a mural depicting mountain sheep from artist Rudi Broschofsky that adorns the wall behind the registration desk. Potato sacks also serve as wall features in homage to the state’s famed crop. A nature-inspired color palette ensures uniformity across the hotel’s public spaces with tones of bright blue and green as well as warmer, more neutral notes. Custom mural wallcoverings add a bespoke flair to the Hangout and Antique Alley sections of the hotel as well, while guestrooms are outfitted with wood flooring reminiscent of a ski lodge and area rugs that resemble a groomed ski trail.
