Sir Hotels will introduce its fifth hotel this June in Ibiza, following the opening of the Sir Adam in Amsterdam and Sir Nikolai in Hamburg. The 38-room Sir Joan will be situated in the heart of the island overlooking the port and the old town. A distinctive, locally inspired design will be crafted by Tel Aviv-based firm Baranowitz + Kronenberg, highlighting the juxtaposition of the island’s reputation as both a luxury retreat and party destination.
The design will pay homage to the Ibiza’s lux, bohemian spirit. Vertical corrugated steel bars will line the interior walls of the ground floor, in recollection of naval ropes and the erosion of metal by the sea. The wraparound pool will be punctuated with cabanas and lounge chairs, while green walls and minimalist waterfalls will infuse tranquility.
The heart of the hotel will be home to an exclusive social club designed to be open and holistic. Amsterdam-based eatery Izakaya will open an outpost in the Sir Joan in addition to the upscale burger concept the Butcher.
Guestrooms will feature stripped, wooden yacht flooring and polished stainless steel wall panels that shimmer from the ample sunlight. Each accommodation will enjoy an attached balcony, while suites will be equipped with three balconies in addition to an indoor living space. Two penthouse suites will crown the property with private balconies that encircle the rooms with outdoor seating including a private cabana.
