The Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix has debuted a restored new look following a $3.7 million redesign from locally based architecture firm Bar Napkin Productions. Part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, the Mediterranean-style hotel’s renovation embraces the desert setting.
The refresh drew inspiration from the resort’s location at the base of Camelback Mountain. All 119 guestrooms have been upgraded with increased natural lighting and earthen, desert tones framed by wooden architectural elements. Eclectic furnishings, including custom carved wooden desks, also express the character of the property, while new artwork and linens reflect the hues and textures of the Mediterranean. Additional details include custom tapestries, wood floors, handfinished fireplaces, outdoor showers, clawfoot bathtubs, and artistically etched mirrors. The 1,700-square-foot presidential suite has also received updates to its patio and gourmet kitchen, which features an array of appliances, including a wine refrigerator.
Corridors are influenced by the colorfully tiled walkways of Spanish haciendas as they weave through the property. Winding stone pathways span the campus, which are appointed with orange trees, fountains, outdoor fireplaces, and century-old rustic doorways. Inspired by Old Hollywood glamour, new lounge furniture, including cabanas outfitted with orbit beds, graces the Mother of Pearl-tiled pooldeck .
