Dubai’s Business Bay has welcomed the new Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai. Designed by locally based WA International to inspire exploration and storytelling, the property draws influence from the fluidity of Dubai’s iconic sand dunes with hues of black and gold woven throughout the interior, along with pebbled glass and unfinished mirror surfaces.
A metallic art installation depicting Dubai’s cityscape welcomes guests, while an ornate, handblown glass chandelier spans the length of the lobby. Floor-to-ceiling gold chains frame unpolished concrete at reception and natural wood finishes, exposed ironwork, and an open fireplace further punctuate the space. Art installations also line the corridors resembling golden waves that recall the wind sweeping across the desert. All 298 guestrooms, including 65 suites, boast floor-to-ceiling windows and create playful shadows against deep blue and pale gray tones. Sumptuous fabrics, sandy leather accents, and natural wood finishes complement the matte gold and metal hardware. Pablo Picasso’s famed camel sketch is also framed above beds, reimagined as a 3D iron rod sculpture.
Onsite F&B options include the contemporary Middle Eastern concept BHAR; the coffee shop Grounded; and David Myers’ concepts BASTA! and Bleu Blanc. Morimoto Dubai will join the lineup in December. The hotel will also launch a Six Senses spa next month, which will be home to six treatment suites.
