Experiential travel group Upscape has announced the launch of Outpost, a pop-up camping experience designed to maximize the vast openness of the Patagonia wilderness in Chile. Poised to unveil its inaugural location this fall, Outpost will invite guests to engage with the wilderness with camps equipped to accommodate up to 16 people in private, furnished tents.
“The mindset around travel has changed—travelers want challenges, meaning and something not yet discovered. At the same time, the constant presence of wifi and pressures of social media make finding those moments, and fully enjoying them, increasingly difficult every day,” says Upscape founder and CEO Brian Pearson. “We were able to use our deep knowledge of the land to identify lesser-known destinations, outside of the common travelers’ routes, to create places where family and friends can come together and truly explore.”
Outpost Maule will be situated inside Chile’s Maule Valley along the Río Maule upon opening this October. Located within the Jeinimeni Reserve, Outpost Patagonia will be set upon the shores of the Río Jeinimeni when it arrives in February 2019. The largely uninhabited expanse comprises four different ecosystems—each of which provides a unique and a dramatic setting for exploration and immersion. Outpost Atacama will join the brand’s portfolio later this year, while Outpost Elqui and Outpost Lakes will debut in Chile in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
