Spread across 100 acres of parkland, Oddfellows On the Park has debuted in Cheshire, England within a Gothic Revival mansion. The 22-room hotel was restored by Manchester, UK-based firms Tim Groom Architects and interior design practice SpaceInvader.
“The building is Gothic Revival and is in superb condition—it was always our intention to let the style show itself off,” Groom explains.
The Victorian design flourishes with architectural moments including a galleried staircase, stained glass roof light, and Jacobian-style ceilings. Loud splashes of color and quirky details lead guests to find unexpected surprises, such as a Gothic-style chandelier comprising bicycle chains in the reception area. The onsite bar features tweed and tartan elements with the building’s original safe acting as a table.
“Though many features in the hotel may seem odd at first glance, everything is odd for a reason and has a story behind it,” explains Katie Crossley of SpaceInvader.
Guestrooms boast original details like exposed beams, fireplaces, and architraves as well as a classical door and window frames. Appointed within the original master bedrooms, the Playground suites are characterized with four-poster beds overlooking the grounds of the property. Housed across two levels of the manor’s tower, the Bridle suite features a sitting room, bedroom, dressing area, and bathroom equipped with a double shower.
