Following a multimillion-dollar renovation, the Nobu Palo Alto will reopen in early 2020 following a refresh from Los Angeles-based practice Montalba Architects.
The 73-room hotel will contrast its urban surroundings with an exterior of chiseled stone textured with waves of cream and gold tones. Spread across eight stories, the hotel will feature a Nobu restaurant on its ground floor that links its two levels with a grand spiral staircase that comprises floating stone treads and a carved teak handrail. Rich wood floors, oak paneling, and a fireplace anchor the sundrenched reception lounge.
Japanese-informed guestrooms will be wrapped with slatted teak wall panels and include a curated selection of artwork. High ceilings and cove lighting will be featured alongside rain showers and freestanding wood soaking tubs.
Meeting and event spaces will be housed across the second and eighth floors, with some overlooking views of the onsite garden and the city’s central hall. In addition, the top floor is home to three Ryokan-inspired meeting rooms.
