The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa has introduced four new waterfront suites, including the Presidential, Grand Bay, Cannery Row, and Spa Terrace. The luxury suites arrive as part of a property-wide refresh from San Francisco-based designer Laura Cook, which includes upgrades to the lobby, spa, guestrooms, meeting space, and more.
Each accommodation has been reimagined with new furnishings, carpets, drapery, and décor evocative of the surrounding sea. A palette of soothing green hues and deep blue tones contrast with subtle gray colors inspired by California’s northern coastline along with accents of original mahogany wood paneling and Rosa Verona marble.
Presidential suite
The opulent Presidential suite features a 500-square-foot sundeck appointed with a custom whirlpool tub, stereo system, deck furniture for up to 12 guests, and 180-degree views of Monterey Bay. The expansive living room is accented with rich mahogany, a fireplace, dining room table, bar and pantry, and entertainment center. A fireplace is installed in the main bedroom, which is clad in a palette of soft blue and green as well as crisp white coverlets. The large marble bathroom features a soaking tub.
The Grand Bay suite boasts three separate balconies and a versatile living room outfitted with a fireplace, 12-seat dining room table, backlit bar and pantry, half bath, and entertainment center. The private bedroom is outfitted with a fireplace as well as a wet bar, an oversized bathroom complete with a double-sink vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower.
The Cannery Row suite is home to a spacious living room, Murphy bed, roomy bathroom, wet bar, and vistas of historic Cannery Row and the ocean. The airy, open bedroom also includes a fireplace in addition to an oversized bathroom with soaking tub, separate shower, and double-sink vanity.
Spa Terrace suite
Equipped with a fireplace, wet bar, soaking tub, shower, and whirlpool tub, the Spa Terrace is also crafted with a private outdoor deck.
