Socially oriented hotel brand Momo’s is set to debut this October with the launch of its first property in central Kuala Lumpur. Conceived by the Ormond Group, the brand will comprise 99 micro accommodations within a transformed structure in the city’s Chow Kit neighborhood.
MoMo’s KL will feature a design from Sydney-based architecture studio Akin Atelier that evokes the laidback playfulness of the brand and its emphasis on socially engaging spaces. The ground floor is home to the casual F&B space MoMosita’s, while the traditional lobby will be swapped for the Playground, which will serve as a socializing and exhibition space. Additional public spaces will be conceptualized as gallery-like areas that serve as a backdrop for expression in forms ranging from art to food.
Public spaces and guestrooms will boast a minimalist palette of raw concrete, laminated timber, and combed plaster. Notes of dusty pink, washed greens, and aged brass will also appear throughout the interior. Inward-facing accommodations will overlook a large gallery lightwell as well.
