Hotel EMC2 has debuted in Chicago as the latest outpost to join the Autograph Collection Hotels portfolio. Located within a 21-story KOO-designed structure, the property includes interiors conceived by New York-based Rockwell Group.
A typographic design depicting the words of Leonardo da Vinci—“Study the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses – learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else”—greets guests upon arrival. The vision of the original Renaissance man guides the design of the hotel, with an extensive collection of commissioned artwork. Guestrooms recall 1920s laboratories with freestanding bathrooms at the center akin to a wet lab. Rose gold fixtures, lux furnishings, and even playfully appointed gramophones further amplify the aesthetic.
The 120-seat contemporary Asian concept the Albert is housed onsite, led by executive chef Brandon Brumback. The center of the restaurant features a custom glass, chandelier-like structure that pours housemade infused liquors, while a 20-seat chef’s table provides an intimate glimpse at the culinary canvas of the restaurant. Nearly 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space is outfitted as well, including two multifunctional venues boasting blackboard-style artwork installations.
