Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to expand its Hawaiian footprint with the opening of Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort in 2022. The property will debut across 81 acres following a renovation led by San Francisco-based Walker Warner Architects in collaboration with VITA Planning & Landscape Architecture. The sustainable design will emphasize the preservation of the surrounding environment, with materials upcycled from deteriorated buildings to minimize landfill waste.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, Kona Village will draw inspiration from the site’s history and local culture. The resort will feature 150 unique, standalone guest hales that will be appointed with locally inspired interiors, including elements like a private lānai and an outdoor shower. The Shipwreck Bar and the Talk Story Bar will be retained from the original property, while a spa, fitness center, tennis courts, and several pools will round out the onsite amenities.
