New Jersey-based Kraig Kalashian Architecture & Design (KKAD) has upgraded all 237 guestrooms and suites at the Kimpton Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These latest updates mark the completion of Phase I of the hotel’s redesign, with Phase II set to impact all common areas.
The refreshed accommodations are informed by the impact of COVID-19. In response to influx of remote work situations, each guestroom and suite is reimagined with a greater emphasis on residential-inspired accents. Custom furnishings, locally inspired artwork, and personalized details pay homage to the creative spirit of Cambridge. A more spacious layout is complemented by a mix of contemporary and vintage elements that convey an alternative sense of tradition. Reminiscent of the Charles River, wave patterns adorn custom blue carpeting, while a cool brownish gray is showcased on channel-stitched headboards. Guestroom seating includes velvet blue-green lounge chairs and a large bench upholstered in sumptuous cognac leather, while marble side tables and bronze mesh detailing adds a dash of opulence amid the grounded, laidback atmosphere.
