The Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel has made its debut in Washington, DC. Located in the city’s popular 14th Street neighborhood, the hotel features comfortable and edgy design by Ave Bradley, Kimpton’s creative director of design, and New York-based Bill Rooney Studio, who were influenced by the brownstones and tree-lined streets of the nearby Logan Circle neighborhood.
The former apartment building offers guests spacious accommodations across its 178 large guestrooms including 18 suites. Spacious marble bathrooms feature glass-enclosed walk-in rain showers, while the hotel’s Premier Spa suites reflect an urban apartment aesthetic with freestanding soaking tubs. Luxe fabrics, varied artwork, refined millwork, plaid carpeting, and decadently textured finishes appear throughout the property.
The hotel’s rooftop space, set to open later this month, will afford city views, and the luxurious penthouse deck will include a swimming pool, chaise lounges, as well as food and drink. Adjacent to the hotel is Radiator, a culinary-focused cocktail bar operated by executive chef Jonathan Dearden. The 57-seat bar and 23-seat lounge are ideal for intimate gatherings, while the 50-seat outdoor patio is complete with firepits and games.
Mason & Rook also offers 4,000 square feet of function space, including the 1,700-square-foot Exchange ballroom for up to 150 people and featuring two backlit onyx skylights.
