The Kimpton Alexis hotel in Seattle has completed the $14 million renovations on its guestrooms and suites. Led by Portland, Oregon-based firm designstudio ltd, the refresh draws inspiration from the natural beauty of Washington state as well as the storied heritage of the site.
The redesigning of the hotel’s interiors blends European and Asian influences, evident in details like rich dark leather as well as walnut and brass elements. A locally inspired nautical theme is incorporated through a cool palette of gray and blue that complements the wave-like tiling. Custom-made headboards at the guestrooms are angled toward Art Deco-style windows that frame views of Puget Sound. “Seattle’s natural beauty translated into the rich fabrics and the nautical theme that is so deeply embedded in the city’s culture”, says Sharilyn Olson Rigdon, the founder and principal designer for designstudio ltd.
