The James New York – NoMad OpensWill Speros • February 9, 2018
The James New York – NoMad has arrived in Manhattan along with the new flagship for LDV Hospitality’s signature Italian concept Scarpetta. Locally based architect Thomas Juul-Hansen led the design of the property, which formerly served as the home of the landmarked Hotel Seville in the early 1900s.
Housed within the Beaux Arts-style building, the James hosts 360 guestrooms, 28 suites, and two penthouses. The rooms are conceived as private sanctuaries with custom and locally crafted furnishings, including grated bass minibars and handcarved bathroom vanities, for an eclectic and residential flair. Penthouse suites feature spacious living areas separate from master bedrooms and luxe bathrooms. Jimmy suites are outfitted with separate living and sleeping rooms and two full bathrooms, while James suites have a customizable layout and also include large living rooms furnished with pullout sofas.
The warm and inviting lobby is home to F&B spaces, including the prohibition-themed speakeasy the Seville cocktail lounge and Scarpetta, which exudes elegance with upscale enhancements like an expansive bar and café space. A fitness center is featured in addition to 5,000 square feet of meeting space.
