Hyatt Regency has made its Netherlands debut with the launch of the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam. Situated at the center of the city near the East district, the hotel is anchored by the façade of a restored former children’s hospital along with the installation of a new structure.
Local firm Van Dongen-Koschuch spearheaded the exterior architectural efforts with the help of Koninklijke Tichelaar from Makkum, who executed the hand-glazed façade tiling.
Amsterdam’s Concrete conceived the interiors for the ground floor, while London studio Jestico & Whiles completed work on the 211 guestrooms and spa and fitness areas.
Located just beyond the lobby, the onsite restaurant and bar Mama Makan evokes a grand café-style aesthetic inspired by the dining and sitting rooms of Jakarta. The venue also extends into an outdoor terrace.
The 211 guestrooms and suites range in size from 322 to 1,356 square feet. The hotel hosts more than 5,565 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Oak wood flooring spans the modern 2,055-square-foot ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Singelgracht canal. An adjacent foyer and individual meeting rooms are also offered.
