The Great Southwest Building in downtown Houston has been reimagined to serve as the newest outpost in the Cambria Hotel.
Led by Texas and North Carolina based firm, Merriman Anderson/Architects, the transformation repositioned the former office structure as a 226-room hotel and convention center. Towering 21 stories above the city’s downtown, the 179,000-square-foot landmark features an array of Art Deco details and Mayan influences that harken back to the history of Houston.
“The warm materials and inviting mood of the interiors are mixed with the character of the historical building to provide a welcoming space,” says Gale Nall, director of interior design at the firm.
