Hotel Julian Chicago is slated to make its arrival in the Windy City this fall as the latest property in the Oxford Hotels & Resorts portfolio. The hotel will debut within the fully overhauled, Marshall & Fox-designed Atlantic Bank Building on North Michigan Avenue, following a restoration by locally based architecture and design firm the Gettys Group.
A two-story façade of folding glass will be punctuated with a terracotta portal that leads to the onsite restaurant About Last Knife as well as the lobby to Michigan Avenue. A second western entrance situated on Garland Court will provide access to the building’s contemporary lobby as well. Outfitted with high ceilings, all 218 rooms will boast expansive, contemporary layouts and views of the Chicago skyline, Millennium Park, and Lake Michigan. The buildings façade will also be locally based practice Hirsch Associates who will also oversee the development of a five-story addition atop of the existing building, wrapped in a faceted glass curtain wall.
