The newly constructed Hammetts Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island is on track to debut this summer on America’s Cup at Commercial Wharf. The forthcoming boutique concept will host 84 rooms and frame views of the nearby Newport Marina.
Executed by international firm DiLeonardo and Providence-based practice Union Studio Architecture & Community, the interiors will echo a mercantile-inspired ambiance complementary to its coastal setting. Double doors will welcome visitors to an expansive lobby lounge, which will boast abundant natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition to flexible dual meeting facilities, amenities will also include the forthcoming Italian restaurant, Giusto.
The accommodations will reflect the influence of the locale’s seafaring legacy through a palette of crisp grays, whites, unfinished wood, and notes of red and navy. Antiqued black-iron sconces will infuse an industrial flair, alongside polished nickel pendants and wood accents. Accented by black iron and leather straps, dark navy upholstered headboards will make a striking impression.
