The former Hyatt Regency Newport hotel in Newport, Rhode Island has reopened this month as Gurney’s Newport Resort and Marina. Set along 10 acres of Goat Island, the resort’s 257 guestrooms and suites enjoy undisturbed waterfront views and will be revamped to adopt an authentic New England aesthetic at the hand of New York-based firm PETERMAX Co.
Upgrades to the property are expected to be made throughout the year and include a lobby refresh, a new marina, and an expanded pool deck. A pool club and kids’ club will also be introduced.
Gurney’s hosts 27,000 square feet of event space including a 300- and 650-seat ballroom and 50,000 square feet of outdoor space. LDV Hospitality will oversee all F&B components, including the signature onsite restaurant, Scarpetta, which is scheduled to open in May.
