The new hotel Círculo Mexicano has debuted in the heart of downtown Mexico City in homage to the city’s contemporary identity. Conceived by Grupo Habita, the new concept occupies a 19th-century residential volume that accommodates 18 guestrooms and seven suites.
Designed by architectural studio Ambrosi Etchegaray, public spaces are crafted to echo a familiar neighborhood style akin to a “vecindad” or patio house. A ground floor reimagined as a modern marketplace heralds Círculo Mexicano’s presence on the street, while a central open-air courtyard anchors the heart of the hotel. Guests are able to access their quarters via private patios that complement the sleek interior design, and each accommodation is outfitted with basalt stone, light ash tree wood, and custom furnishings.
